Nature Nest Resort - Photo: Amey Bhide[/caption] On a Saturday, I discovered a new Goa, away from the hustle bustle of beaches. I visited Nature’s Nest Resort in Goa, Sancordem to be precise, on my friend’s insistence. Being a nature lover, I was instantly hooked to it. I had booked for myself a wholesome package that included bird watching Goa, bird watching camp, fish spa, trekking, jungle safari, etc along with a stay at Nature Nest Resort Goa for 3-4 days; though they customize packages too.
Ideal for families and couples, Nature’s Nest satisfies the nature lover inside you to the fullest. Of course even if you are not much into nature, Nature’s Nest resort in Goa will make you one. My day started early morning around 7.30 when I visited Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary for Bird Watching Goa and a birdwatching camp. The expert bird guide, who also happens to be a herpetologist, helped me identify birds just through their calls. I was stumped to find so many different types of birds - Vernal Hanging Parrots, Shikra, Forest Wagtail, Fame-throated Bulbuls, Blue-eared Kingfisher and Trogons, among others.
After the return, I headed straight for the fish spa that they have (See above video). It is not these flashy types, but it serves the purpose and how! Tiny endemic fishes nibble your feet and boy is it ticklish! When you take a refreshing swim in the natural spring pool, these fishes accompany you. Now ascertain whether Nature’s Nest is for the nature lover in you or not. Lunch comprising authentic local food was served, after which evening bird watching Goa was done at the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, near the famous Tambdi Surla Temple. During my stay here, I also enjoyed fun adventure games like Wall Climbing and Flying Fox. It was fantastic.
The cottages, named after various flowers, are nestled in such a way it feels like a jungle stay. Oh, I also asked for a tent stay night, which was an organic and beautiful experience. It almost felt like I am the explorer of Discovery Channel or Nat Geo! The only sounds I could hear were of birds, insects, and ruffling of leaves. Since the trees are all named, it was easy for me to find a Vanilla tree or say a pepper tree (yes, they have all these!)
Since the resort is ideal for family and couple, there were many who attended the bonfire in the evening. We had little chit chat and then retreated to our cottages. Sleep crawled and next day again we hit Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary for Bird Watching in Goa, where we spotted birds like Grey-fronted Green Pigeon, Malabar trogon, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, White-rumped Shama, Asian Fairy Bluebird, and so on. It was time for some activities – I preferred a visit to Dudhsagar waterfall and then took a jungle safari in an open jeep. Visiting the churches in old Goa made me appreciate the architectural finesse our past generations had. After a satisfying stay in Nature’s Nest Resort Goa, it was time for return, with the promise to come back here again.
