If you haven’t seen Goa in during the monsoons then you are missing out on Goa’s most beautiful time of year. What’s more is that the prices and the temperatures both drop. Thanks to the rains the weather is pleasant. Goa during the off-season is quiet no doubt but the fun doesn’t stop.
You don’t have to be stuck indoors wondering what to do and where to go. Our adventure trips don’t stop. We’ve added another fun trip to our list, the Mandovi River Backwater Cruise Trip. The seas maybe too rough to venture in but our backwaters are safe so you can still enjoy an array of water sports.
Come onboard the Mandovi River Backwater Cruise and we will take you on a pleasant journey down the backwaters in catamaran style cruise. There is a fully functional top deck where you can either sit out in the rain or soak up some unexpected sun (sunshine during this time is quite rare). Irrespective of where you choose to sit you will still get a glimpse of the mesmerizing view as you sail towards the anchor point.
While you are onboard you can try your hand at line fishing (fishing with Nylon lines). The lines and bait will be provided. If you’re feeling adventurous you can dive off the boat and swim or you can go for a ride on the kayak or SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Board. You can also try out the bumper boat ride or go for a spin on a speed boat. If you feel like relaxing onboard you can enjoy music and maybe shake a leg on the dance floor.
Right through the journey you will be surrounded by the breathtaking view of Ribandar, and Chorao Island. This is a fun trip for family, a group of friends or couples. Children will enjoy the boat ride and water sports.
Irrespective of the weather, The Mandovi River Backwater Cruise will be conducted twice a day. The morning trip begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m. and the afternoon trip begins at 2:30 p.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. The reporting time for the morning trip is at 9:30 a.m. at Boat Jetty below the Mandovi Bridge. Reporting time for the afternoon trip is at 2:00 p.m. if you wish to come in your own vehicle.
The boat will sail away from the Arabian Sea, towards Old Goa and drop its anchor opposite the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary which is located on the West of Chorao Island. You will see old Goan-Portuguese houses, and a few churches that date back to the Portuguese era. You will see a variety of birds. The estuarial mangrove rich flora and fauna. The river banks and the ride down the backwaters are equally enchanting and unforgettable.
Pickups and drop offs are available from hotels in Candolim, Sinquerim, Baga, Calangute, Arpora, Nerul, and Nagoa. The pick up time for the afternoon trip is 12:30 p.m - 01:15 p.m.
If you wish to indulge in any of the water activities please carry your swimwear, a towel, and a change of clothes. Please wear shoes or sandals with a good grip (Crocs, floaters, rain shoes, or anything you don’t mind getting wet). If you choose to wear sneakers or loafers, please bear in mind that you will have to be in those wet shoes and it can be uncomfortable. It is advisable to wear light clothes, preferably cotton, clima-lite, dri-fit or anything that will dry quickly should you get wet in the rain. Please carry rainwear (Jackets, raincoats, and umbrellas) if you don’t like getting wet. We have a washroom and changing rooms on board.
You will get light snacks, three chilled beers per person, mineral water or soft drinks, and a complimentary buffet lunch (veg or non-veg). The price of this trip is 1799/- INR per person.

You will board the boat at Narvekar Jetty in Britona.
For the Mandovi River Backwater Cruise Trip you will be in a catamaran styled boat with a fully functional open deck on top.
Your reporting time for the 10:00 a.m. cruise is 9:30 a.m and for the 2:30 p.m. cruise is 2:00 p.m if you are coming with your own vehicle.
If you choose to come on your own, you will have to come to Narvekar Jetty below Mandovi Bridge. Please ensure that you are on time because our trips begin at the mentioned times.
The trip includes kayaking, fishing with lines, sailing on a SUP Board, sightseeing, music on demand, safety jackets, light snacks, buffet lunch (Veg or Non-Veg). 3 pints of beer per person, cold drinks or mineral water.
The trip excludes Snorkeling gear, towels, swimwear, and dolphin Spotting
A SUP board is a Stand Up Paddle Board where you stand on a board, balance, and row with a paddle.
It depends on the month you choose to travel in. June, July has heavy rainfall, August has light rains, and September it gets heavy again. However, it is difficult to say how heavy the rains will actually be because the weather patterns have changed. We have a lot of sunny days too during these months.

Only if your hotel is located in the north at one of the following locations Baga, Calangute, Arpora Candolim, Sinquerim, Nerul.
We do not do pickups and drop offs from any of the South Goa locations
It’s absolutely fine for children. Young children love this cruise.
Carry a change of clothes, a towel, and swimwear if you wish to go swimming or you would like try out any of the water sports. Sunblock and cap or sunhat in case it’s a sunny day. Carry your camera if you wish. Rain wear is also necessary.
Light comfortable cotton clothes would work best. Please wear sandals, floaters, or rain shoes.
Of course you can.
We cannot guarantee that you will have a sunny day during your boat cruise but of course you can. You can also sit in the rain if you wish.
We have a changing room and a washroom.
We will try and fit you in for the next Mandovi River Backwater Cruise Trip. Unfortunately, you cannot get a refund.
If the trip is canceled by us then we will give you a full refund of your money.
You will get to see old Goan-Portuguese houses on the banks of the Mandovi River as we sail towards the backwaters, you will also see Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
You will be sailing “up” the river, away from the Arabian Sea and towards Old Goa. The boat will anchor opposite Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
